Te Kaupapa o te Tūranga  – Position Purpose

Are you a dedicated practitioner passionate about strengthening whānau engagement and wellbeing?

We are seeking a Te Whare Tautoko Kaiarahi to lead and coordinate the daily operations of Te Whare Tautoko. This unique fixed-term, 40-hour role is split evenly between managing Te Whare Tautoko operations and delivering Whānau Wellbeing services.

You will be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded environment. Your day-to-day will involve facilitating counselling, guidance, and wānanga, while overseeing the delivery of responsive wellbeing initiatives that meet the diverse needs of our whānau.

 

NgāKawenga Matua – Key  Responsibilities

  • Operational  Leadership: Coordinating daily activities to ensure Te Whare Tautoko runs efficiently and aligns with our organizational objectives.
  • Whānau  Support: Facilitating group-based interventions, counselling, and support services using culturally responsive approaches.
  • Stakeholder  Engagement: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with whānau, community providers, government agencies, and NGOs.
  • Programme Oversight: Monitoring the effectiveness of programmes and wānanga to ensure positive outcomes for whānau.
  • Compliance & Risk: Maintaining high professional standards, including DAPANZ requirements and accurate record-keeping.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a registered professional with a deep understanding of Te Ao Māori and whānau-centred practice. You will embody our values of Manaaki (respect), Tika/Pono (integrity), and Ringa Raupa (hard work).

 

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • DAPANZ Registered Drug and Alcohol Counsellor with a current Practising Certificate.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Mental Health, or Addiction Services.
  • Proven experience in facilitating programmes, wānanga, and group-based interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to advocate for whānau effectively.
  • A full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence.
  • High standard of written and verbal communication.
