Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a casual Kaimahi Residence based at Te Whare Awhina Residence located in Gisborne. As a Kaimahi Residence, you will play a vital part in supporting and empowering young people and their families as part of Ngati Porou Oranga's commitment to community services and child welfare.

What you'll be doing

  1. Providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for rangatahi in residential care
  2. Assisting with the daily routines and activities to promote the wellbeing and development of rangatahi
  3. Engaging with rangatahi and their families to understand their needs and provide appropriate support
  4. Collaborating with social workers, counsellors, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans
  5. Maintaining detailed records and documentation to ensure high-quality care and compliance with regulations
  6. Participating in training and professional development to continuously improve your skills and knowledge

  1. A genuine passion for supporting young people and their families in the community
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships
  3. Strong problem-solving abilities and the flexibility to adapt to the diverse needs of rangatahi
  4. Relevant experience in a similar role or a background in community services, youth work, or social care
  5. A commitment to upholding the values and mission of Ngati Porou Oranga
