Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a casual Kaimahi Residence based at Te Whare Awhina Residence located in Gisborne. As a Kaimahi Residence, you will play a vital part in supporting and empowering young people and their families as part of Ngati Porou Oranga's commitment to community services and child welfare.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for rangatahi in residential care
  • Assisting with the daily routines and activities to promote the wellbeing and development of rangatahi
  • Engaging with rangatahi and their families to understand their needs and provide appropriate support
  • Collaborating with social workers, counsellors, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans
  • Maintaining detailed records and documentation to ensure high-quality care and compliance with regulations
  • Participating in training and professional development to continuously improve your skills and knowledge

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and their families in the community
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the flexibility to adapt to the diverse needs of rangatahi
  • Relevant experience in a similar role or a background in community services, youth work, or social care
  • A commitment to upholding the values and mission of Ngati Porou Oranga
