Head of Marketing, Brand & Communications - Nāti Growth

Bring your depth of experience to this brand new role, leading critical mahi and contributing to intergenerational impact for Ngāti Porou as Head of Marketing, Brand and Communications.

While you would ideally be based in Gisborne we are open to applications from candidates in Auckland who are willing to travel.

Reporting to our CEO, this mahi spans across Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou, including our commercial, charitable and health services. Varied and responsive, our mahi landscape is informed by the needs and aspirations of our people.

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
In this role you will shape how Ngāti Porou presents itself to Aotearoa and the world - steering the direction of our brand, our storytelling, our public voice and our marketing across the wider Ngāti Porou Group.

Strengthening who we are, how we kōrero, how we are seen, and how we connect with our whānau, stakeholders, commercial partners, and communities. You will be able to move with ease across different spaces, communicating with our people both within and outside of the rohe, across all ages, and representing Ngāti Porou beyond our iwi.

You will lead the strategic direction of this mahi while staying close to delivery, ensuring our kōrero is clear, consistent and aligned across our iwi spaces, charitable and commercial environments. In this mahi you will carry responsibility for group wide planning, digital strategy, public relations and content creation.

As you will be inheriting a newly formed, knowledgeable marketing and communications team, it is paramount you are a values led, experienced and passionate leader of people.

This mahi includes our annual report and strategic plan, our digital spaces, the marketing of our mānuka products and investments, with impact felt across the full breadth of our work.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – Essential Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant senior-level experience leading organisation-wide communications, marketing, brand and PR functions
  • Experience working confidently with CEOs, Executives, and Boards
  • Lived experienced within te ao Māori
  • Experience working with iwi organisations, Māori enterprises or kaupapa Māori environments
  • Experience working in complex group structures with charitable and commercial arms
  • Experience in leading integrated campaigns and multi-channel strategies across large or multi-entity organisations.
  • Public relations, including issues and crisis management experience
  • Capability building organisational reputation and brand trust
  • Mana enhancing leadership and team development skills.
  • Strength in strategic planning paired with hands-on delivery capability.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with media, journalists, iwi leaders, sector partners, and government agencies.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
