About the role

The General Practitioner is responsible for providinghigh-quality, comprehensive, and culturally responsive primary medical care toindividuals and whānau accessing NPO Primary Care Services. Working within amultidisciplinary team, the role delivers evidence-based assessment, diagnosis,treatment and ongoing management of acute, chronic and preventative healthcareneeds while promoting equitable health outcomes and whānau-centred models ofcare. The General Practitioner contributes to integrated primary healthcareservices, supports continuity of care across the wider health system,participates in clinical governance and quality improvement activities, andmaintains the highest standards of professional and ethical medical practice.The role is committed to advancing kaupapa Māori approaches to healthcaredelivery and improving health outcomes for Māori and all communities served byNPO.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary medical care across the lifespan
• Assess, diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
• Undertake preventative healthcare, screening and health promotion activities
• Develop and implement patient-centred management plans
• Prescribe medicines safely and appropriately
• Arrange investigations, referrals and follow-up care
• Promote informed decision-making and patient self-management
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records
• Participate in clinical governance activities and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain vocational registration and Annual Practising Certificate

About you

• Vocational registration and Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General     Practitioners (or equivalent), or be working towards Fellowship
• Current APC and eligibility to practise in Aotearoa New Zealand
• Strong clinical judgement and commitment to quality care
• Interest in Māori health and reducing inequities
• A collaborative, adaptable and relationship-focused approach
