Youth Services Agency Day

On Friday 1 May, Ngāti Porou Oranga brought together Youth Services and partner agencies for a purposeful day of connection, collaboration and engagement with youth. With support from NPO Tūhono, SWIS, Youth Services, Te Whatu Ora, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Ngā Puna Waihanga, MSD Job and Skills Hub, Te Ora Hou, Culturally Maia, and Pasifika representatives, the day created a valuable space to share insights, strengthen relationships and support a more coordinated approach for youth across our rohe.

It was encouraging to see youth turn up once again and actively engage, building on the momentum of our previous gathering. Throughout the day, they were able to connect directly with services, ask questions, explore pathways, and better understand the support available across health, education, employment and wellbeing.

A standout feature was the creative art space, where youth could express their identity in a safe and welcoming environment through kōrero, reflection and storytelling. A special acknowledgement to our outstanding MC, Coby Houia from Te Whatu Ora, whose presence and energy helped guide the day and keep engagement high throughout. Overall, the day reinforced the importance of continuing to create spaces where youth feel seen, heard and supported, while strengthening the relationships between the services that walk alongside them.

Ngā mihi nui to all services, partner agencies and youth who helped make the day a success.
