Whanaungatanga Day

February 2026

Today at Whangara Marae, the Whānau Oranga team welcomed our Oranga Tamariki whānau onto the marae for a dedicated day of whanaungatanga, connection, and shared purpose.

The kaupapa of the day was simple but powerful — to bring our kaimahi together kanohi ki te kanohi, strengthen relationships, and deepen our collective understanding of how we can work alongside one another to better serve our tamariki and mokopuna.

By grounding ourselves in te reo, tikanga, and the taiao of Whangara, we reminded ourselves of the unique Ngāti Porou approach that underpins our mahi. Collaboration is not just about systems and processes — it begins with relationships, trust, and knowing each other beyond our job titles.

Through kōrero, laughter, and shared experiences, our teams strengthened the foundations needed to support whānau in meaningful ways, anchored in tikanga.

When we invest in connection, our tamariki benefit.

A big thank you to all who participated and contributed.
