Call Us
March 2026
Last week Ngati Porou Oranga had the opportunity to come together with other providers from across the region for our second Te Huringa o Te Ao hui. These hui bring together organisations delivering this kaupapa so we can learn from one another, share experiences, and strengthen the way we support our communities.
The kaupapa of Te Huringa o Te Ao focuses on supporting positive behaviour change for men, particularly for those who have come through cycles of violence. Our collective aim is to reduce harm and strengthen outcomes for whānau, wāhine and tamariki.
During the hui, each provider shared the work they are doing within their services. Through those discussions we were able to map out ideas, approaches, and experiences together — helping shape a shared direction for how this kaupapa continues to grow across our region.
Here at Ngāti Porou, we are still in the early stages of developing this service, but we are already seeing the impact. We currently have some of our first tāne engaging with the programme, and it is a privilege to support them on their journey toward change.
This mahi is long-term and requires ongoing support and commitment, but the opportunity to walk alongside our tāne as they work towards positive change is incredibly important for the wellbeing of our whānau and communities.
We look forward to continuing to grow this kaupapa over the coming months and strengthening the support available for our people.
