Ngāti Porou Oranga has formally joined Te Kāhui o te Manawa Taki, a kaupapa Māori partnership bringing together six experienced Māori health and social service providers from across the central and eastern North Island.

‍

The partnership was formalised in Tauranga on Wednesday 5 August 2026, bringing together Ngāti Porou Oranga, Te Puna Ora Matua Charitable Trust, Te Kōhao Health, Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki, Whaioranga Trust and Ngāti Ranginui Home & Community Support Services Company Limited.

Built on whakapapa, mana and long-standing relationships with iwi and communities, Te Kāhui o te Manawa Taki represents a shared commitment to working collectively to improve outcomes for Māori and the wider community, while ensuring services remain locally grounded and responsive to the people they serve.

Together, the six organisations serve communities across Taranaki, Waikato, Hauraki, Lakes, Bay of Plenty and Te Tairāwhiti.

The collective is positioning itself to pursue opportunities in Home and Community Support Services (HCSS) and other initiatives that support people to remain healthy, independent and connected within their homes and communities.

For Ngāti Porou Oranga, joining Te Kāhui o te Manawa Taki creates an opportunity to combine the strength of our local knowledge, relationships and services with the collective expertise and reach of other kaupapa Māori providers.

Across the partnership there is extensive experience in primary care, kaumātua care, whānau ora, mental health and addictions, disability support, community nursing, palliative care, rongoā Māori, housing and social services, alongside rural and urban service delivery.

Te Kāhui o te Manawa Taki will be governed through a Joint Venture Governance Board, with representation from each of the six member organisations. This ensures each provider retains a strong voice and connection to its communities while working collectively to strengthen services for kaumātua, whānau and future generations.

For Ngāti Porou Oranga, it means Ngāti Porou is firmly represented in the whare as this kaupapa moves forward.
