Help Shape the Future of Housing for Ngāti Porou
Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou is developing a Housing Strategy to better understand the housing needs, challenges, and aspirations of our whānau across the Ngāti Porou takiwā.
This survey is the first step in that process. The information gathered will help us build a clear picture of current housing conditions, understand the impacts of recent severe weather events and natural hazards, and identify the housing aspirations of whānau for the future.
Why are we undertaking this survey?
The Housing Strategy will help guide a coordinated response to immediate housing issues facing our communities, particularly those affected by recent flooding and severe weather events.
The information will also support Ngāti Porou advocacy and planning over the coming years by informing strategic inputs into key regional planning processes, including the Gisborne District Council Spatial Plan, Infrastructure Strategy, Long Term Plan, and the Tairāwhiti Resource Management Plan Review. Your experiences and insights will help ensure Ngāti Porou voices are represented in decisions that affect our communities, whenua, and future housing opportunities.
What will the survey ask?
The survey focuses on four key areas:
Whether you own a home, rent, live on Māori land, hold property in a trust, or are planning future housing for your whānau, your experiences and aspirations are important.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Information collected through this survey will be managed by Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou and used solely for housing-related planning and advocacy purposes.
Personal details will not be included in reports provided to government agencies or external organisations without your express permission.
Have Your Say
Every response helps build a stronger understanding of housing needs across our takiwā and will help shape housing priorities for the next decade and beyond.
