Attendance Service Specialist

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
Ngāti Porou Oranga provides kaupapa Māori health and social services across Te Tairāwhiti with over 280 kaimahi from Gisborne to Te Araroa.

We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Service Specialist to support tamariki and whānau across Te Tāirawhiti.

This permanent fulltime role (40 hours per week) focused on improving schoolattendance and strengthening educational pathways. You will work closely with tamariki, whānau, schools, kura, and community partners to identify barriers toengagement and co-design solutions that support positive learning outcomes and whānau aspirations. The role involves active whānau engagement, service coordination, and walking alongside whānau to support sustained participation in education across the rohe.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – What we’re looking for

  • Must have: Tertiary qualification in Education or a related field (orSocial Work, Counselling, Mental Health, Youth or Community Support)
  • Experience working with tamariki and whānau in community, education or early intervention settings
  • Strong communication, engagement, behaviour management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of support agencies and whānau-centred practice, with the ability to navigate and connect services
  • Empathetic, approachable, and able to build trusted relationships with whanau and stakeholders
  • Competent in the use of organisational systems, accurate data entry, and standard Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must have: Full clean NZ driver licence
