Whanau Oranga Attendance Service - Ruatoria

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
Ngāti Porou Oranga provides kaupapa Māori health and social services across Te Tairāwhiti with over 280 kaimahi from Gisborne to Te Araroa.

We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Service Kaiawhina to support tamariki and whānau across Ruatoria and surrounding areas.

This permanent part-time role (30 hours per week) focuses on improving school attendance, working alongside tamariki, whānau, schools, and community partners to overcome barriers to education. You’ll play a key role in strengthening engagement and supporting positive pathways for learning and whānau aspirations.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Education or related field
  • Experience working with tamariki and whānau in community or education settings
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of support agencies and whānau-centred practice
  • Empathetic, approachable, and able to build trusted relationships
  • Full clean NZ driver licence
