Resignation of Chief Executive – George Reedy

It is with both gratitude and regret that I announce the resignation of George Reedy as Chief Executive of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou, effective 1 August 2025.
Over the past four years, George has served as CEO across our Group entities,

Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou, Ngati Porou Oranga, and Toitu Ngati Porou, with unwavering commitment.  His decision to return home from Napier to accept the role was a powerful expression of service to his Iwi, reaffirming his dedication to the people and whenua of Te Tairawhiti.

Under his leadership, our Iwi organisation has navigated some of the most challenging and turbulent periods in recent memory, including the COVID-19pandemic and the devastating impacts of Cyclones Hale and Gabrielle, events that tested the resilience of our people, disrupted livelihoods, and demanded unwavering clarity, compassion, and strategic action at every level of our response.

George played a pivotal role in the establishment of Ngati Porou Oranga and the expansion of health, housing, and social services for our whanau and communities of Te Tairawhiti. His vision and drive have led to the creation of more than 150 new jobs in our rohe and significantly increased our contracted income, building a strong foundation for sustainable growth and positive transformation.

Beyond operations, George has strengthened our strategic relationships across government, Iwi (both locally and nationally), and other key stakeholders. His contribution to Ngati Porou has been both immense and deeply appreciated. On behalf of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou and our wider Iwi, I extend our heartfelt thanks to George for his tireless and exemplary service. We wish him every success in his future endeavours and look forward to the continued impact of his leadership, wherever it may take him.
